Major Vegetables and Root Crops Quarterly Bulletin, April - June 2018

April 2018 to June 2018

  • For April to June 2018, production of peanut slightly dropped by 0.3 percent, from 8.49 thousand metric tons in 2017 to 8.46 thousand metric tons this year.
  • The decrease in output was attributed to lesser pods harvested in Central Luzon and MIMAROPA due to frequent rains during pod formation. Lower yield was also reported in Central Luzon due to effect of whiteflies.
  • Ilocos Region registered the biggest production of 3.00 thousand metric tons which accounted for 35.5 percent of the total peanut production. The other major producing regions were Cagayan Valley with 22.2 percent share and Central Luzon, 11.3 percent.
