Description of LFS
In October 2017, the total population 15 years old and over was estimated at 70.4 million wherein the number of persons who were in the labor force was reported at 43.7 million.
The employment rate in January 2018 was estimated at 94.7 percent. In January 2017, the employment rate was 93.4 percent.
In July 2017, the total population 15 years old and over was estimated at 70.2 million wherein the number of persons who were in the labor force was reported at 42.5 million. This placed the labor force participation rate (LFPR) at 60.6 percent, which means that six in ten of the population aged 15 years and over were either employed or unemployed.
The preliminary results of the Annual Labor and Employment Estimates for 2017 based on the average of the four (4) LFS rounds (January, April, July and October) reported an annual labor force participation rate of 61.2 percent out of 69.9 million population 15 years old and over.
