2010 Survey on Information and Communication Technology for Information Economy: Preliminary Results

This Special Release presents the preliminary results of the 2010 SICT for the core ICT indicators of the Information Economy (IE). Table 1 shows a comparison of the percentages of the core ICT indicators by industry classified as IE for reference years 2008, 2009 and 2010. The regional breakdown for the same indicators and reference years is presented in Table 2.

More than 90 percent of establishments use computer and other hardware. Out of the total 2,140 establishments covered in the 2009 Survey on Information and Communication Technology (SICT), 95.7 percent used computer in their business operations. ICT Manufacturing Industries recorded the highest percentage of establishments that used computer (100%) while ICT Service Industries recorded the lowest (94.9%). At the regional level, both the Caraga Region and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recorded the highest percentage at 100 percent while in MIMAROPA only eight out of every 10 establishments (80.8%) used computers in business operations, the lowest among regions.
